Privacy Policy

Subtext is built to be private by default. This policy explains, in plain language, what the app does and does not do with your information. It applies to the Subtext iPhone app published by Tennnis.

On-device by design

Transcription, color grading, grain and export all happen on your device. Your video clips, their audio, and the captions generated from them are never uploaded to any server. They are not sent to us or to anyone else, and we have no ability to see, access, or store them. The app works fully offline, including in airplane mode.

No data collection

We do not collect personal information. Subtext has no analytics, no advertising, no third-party trackers, and no software development kits that report your activity. We do not build a profile of you and we have nothing to sell. This matches the “Data Not Collected” declaration on the app’s App Store privacy label.

No account required

Subtext does not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or sign in. We do not collect names, contact details, or profile information.

Photos and media access

To caption a clip, Subtext needs to read the video you choose, and to save a finished clip it needs to write to your photo library. iOS asks for your permission before either happens, and you can limit access to selected videos or change it at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos. Subtext only touches the clips you pick, and that access is used entirely on device.

Purchases

Subtext is free to use. An optional one-time purchase unlocks 4K export and removes the watermark. Purchases and any restore are handled by the App Store. Payment is processed by Apple under their terms; Subtext does not see, receive, or store your payment details. Apple may share anonymized purchase information with us for normal accounting and to verify your unlock.

Children

Subtext does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children. Because nothing is collected, the app does not gather data from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date above. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
